My name is Roosevelt Bolden and I’m from Ventura, California. My dream of inspiring young minds and helping our youth began many years ago as a teenage boy working as a basketball counselor at Ventura College. Years passed, and the passion for working with children was further ignited as I worked at an after-school program in the city of Ventura. I went from counselor to an assistant director. I have also volunteered in a big brother program at Missouri Western State University.

I graduated from Missouri Western State University as a criminal justice major which provided me with the opportunity and experience of working with “at-risk youth.”  I moved back to California and had a strong desire to expand my knowledge and pursue work with special needs students. Thus, I have worked at Adolfo Camarillo High School for eight years as a para - educator with severely handicap and autistic students which has afforded me many years of learning. Meanwhile, I was attending the University of LaVerne where I would receive my master’s degree in education counseling.

During all these years of experience I realized that I wanted to provide more for my students and so I created along with my amazing team unified sports at Camarillo High School.   General students partner up with special students to compete against other schools. It’s a great way to include all walks of life and accepting anybody no matter what disability that they might have. It’s a way for the school to get closer as well as the community to become as a whole.
